Kallie (formerly Biscuit)
Posted May 2013

Just thought I'd give you an update on Kallie (Biscuit). She's doing great. She's so silly and sweet. We just finished dog school. She still needs to work on a few things. Thanks for everything, she's wonderful!

Bosco
Posted April 2013

Sometimes you have to wonder about the relationship between a man and his dog nowadays. That a dog could enter your life, adopted out of the blue, and change our respective lives entirely, for the better. The benefits accrue in suspect and subtle ways. Regular daily walks lead to weight loss and muscle tone for both of us. Bosco has allowed this man's senses to be compounded. I watch Bosco at my heels outdoors and I sense just what he smells, hears and sees. He has become an extension of my sensory perception. So attuned we have become. He sees the deer on the trail well before I might. He knows exactly what's for dinner before it's cooked. And he seems to know the moment I awake. Thank you MWBCR, for providing him into our life.

Brogan
Posted April 2013

It has been two years ago since we adopted Beau (Brogan) in March 2011. He is being spoiled on a daily basis. He is enjoying life with his sisters Maizee and Lucy (both border collies too). They keep him busy and spend a lot of time wrestling and chasing each other. Beau loves to play ball and Frisbee and enjoys walking the neighborhood to “check up on everything”. Although he loves his active time, he also needs his relaxation time too. He is frequently found sleeping in his “upside down” pose. Beau knows he is handsome and loves to show off his beautiful coat and fluffy tail. We are lucky to have this boy and enjoy every minute we have with him.
PD
Posted March 2013

We adopted PD from you in March 2008. He and his sister Patty had come into rescue a year earlier. He is amazing, healthy, energetic, and doing extremely well. He will be 12 years old next week. Thank you for matching us with him 5 years ago.

Just a quick note to say hi, and tell you about Trek! When Duke comes in from outside we dry him off with a bath towel, or as we call it a "rubdown". He has really learned to enjoy it over the years, and more the better! After we finish with Duke, Trek stands there for his rubdown, and he hasn't even been outside! Of course, we always comply and he is pretty happy with himself! Trek and I have been playing allot of snow Frisbee, and he is really really good. He also rides co-pilot when we snowplow, and he sits there so proudly! He has developed quite a personality!

Mick
Posted February 2013

Almost a month ago Chris and I had a fire at our house. But thank God that we are all okay and thanking God even more for our guardian angel, Mick. He was the one who woke us up that night and got us out of the house. (I think he will always have a permanent place to sleep on our bed! So yes, we are all okay, but because it was an attic fired, there was damage to the majority of our house, so besides getting a whole new roof, most of the rooms will have to be gutted. It looks like it will be about 4 month until we can be back into our house. But again, we are just thankful that we are all okay. I get tears in my eyes when I think about how things could've been worse, especially if we weren't home when it would've happened and something would have happened to Mick. I truly believe God (and you) gave him to us for a reason, and he really is our protector and "little hero."  Lori and Chris
Fin
Posted February 2013

Fin is doing well. He is still afraid of strangers, but most of the time will sniff them instead of just running away. He is learning to love playing catch and even tug of war sometimes. He plays with his two step siblings when he's at my parents house and had met all the dogs in my building, even the large great dane. His favorite spots are still my roommates bed or my bed, just don't try and make it while he's there, he will get in the way.

Zeke (Kojak)
Posted December 2012

We adopted a dog from your organization in April of 2011. When we adopted him he was going by the name of "Kojak". Since then we have changed his name to Zeke. Zeke has been a wonderful addition to our family. He has been spoiled and loved on since he has come home with us. Zeke is an avid ball chaser and people herder. We would love to try him out on some sheep sometime! He is quite the water dog too! His favorite thing to chase is his big sister Violet (border collie lab mix). He is very protective of his home and family. We couldn't have asked for a better boy!

Ditch
Posted Sept. 2012

I wanted to write and say thank you to all of the people involved in making it possible for me to adopt Ditch in December of 2006. I know it’s been a long time, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t adore him and think about the sacrifices that your organization and his foster parents made to keep him alive until we had the joy of bringing him to our home.Shortly after we brought him home and Ditch as he is today, a little grey around the muzzle but no worse for the wear. Ditch has been a wonderful companion to the humans and other animals in our house. Our older border collie tolerates his foolishness, but our standard poodle is his best buddy. Ditch has anointed himself protector of the cats and takes this job very seriously, although the cats don’t always seem to appreciate his efforts. He LOVES to run, and with his long legs and penchant for hyperactivity, easily outruns the other dogs. I want you to know that he is happy, and well-adjusted, and cherished and that I could never thank you enough for rescuing him.

Meko with “yellow paw”......something dogs get when they play lots of frisbee in fields with dandelions!

Posted July 2012

Forrest is doing very well! One of the most expressive dogs I've ever owned, we never quite know what facial reaction we are going to get, but there is usually some form of sarcasm in it. It also seems that Forrest has also befriended one of our cats Belushi. Belushi helps take on the evil squirrels for Forrest when they taunt him out of his reach and Forrest helps scare away the neighbor cats. Recently Forrest has started to love helping us in our garden, watching over us and of course making sure that our holes are big enough. But he only seems to dig in the areas that we are at the moment and only before the plants go in so we know he is helping, the funniest part is that as soon as he is done he stares at us to let us know that now the hole is deep enough and then waits for us to finish the next one. Forrest also is socializing well, but he still prefers to play around with the big dogs.

I thought I'd send a picture of our wonderful dog Willie. He seemed so hot yesterday so I filled up the kiddy pool and he loved it.
We adore Willie!

I would like to thank everyone for rescuing Lanie and letting me adopt her. It's never, ever a dull moment with that red-head. I will be forever grateful, even when she's sniffing out trouble.

belleBelle
Posted June 2012

Belle is doing well. We just finished "doggie high school" this week and took the AKC CGC test, and we passed! I was so proud of Belle. We worked very hard on learning the leash. She still has a way to go but I think that will come as her confidence improves. I'm attaching photos from the end of class and with the other CGC passers. Belle is wearing a Thundershirt, she looks so cute in it, but it does help when we go for walks or to new places on the leash. She responds well to training and I enjoy finding new games to work on with her. I think her favorite game will always be fetch though, more then one person has commented on the grass stains on her hind legs. I have a few kinds of balls we play with, ones that whistle, ones that have crazy bounces, ones that are just normal, so we always mix it up to keep it fun for her. I love watching her jump around and chase.

Posted June 2012

This past Saturday, Fame got to play with the sheep for the first time. Talk about creating a monster! She pretty much lost her mind, but talent-wise made a good impression with Shannon who really liked her. I'm thinking that our guess that Fame's from Amish or some other working line is pretty right on. Fame is also taking private agility lessons and is in a puppy agility class. She's making quite an impression there as well, and we are having a ball! I love teaching her and call her my little "sponge". I want to take this opportunity to thank MWBCR for helping bring this special little girl into my life.
